As easy as it is to perform 3D or 2D cell culture with VitroGel, it is even easier to harvest cells out from the hydrogel system with the VitroGel® Cell Recovery Solution. This enzyme-free solution has a neutral pH and works at 37°C operating temperature. With a simple rocking and incubation process, cells cultured in 3D or 2D coating VitroGel can be harvested in 10-20 minutes while maintaining high cell viability.

With VitroGel system, all different functional modifications are offered in the same xeno-free tunable hydrogel 3D culture system. The system allows scientists to investigate different combinations of VitroGel® products to find the right conditions for their experiments. For example, scientists can combine different functional adhesive ligands, such VitroGel® COL with VitroGel® RGD, VitroGel® IKVAV, VitroGel® YIGSR, or VitroGel® LDP1/2/3, to form a heterogeneous, and realistic, microenvironment. Also, the MMP enzyme sensitive hydrogel, VitroGel MMP, can be used to study the degradation of the local ECM by metastatic cells for invasion and dissemination into new tissue. This key feature permits examination of cellular responses in a more physiologically relevant context, while still giving experimenters full control. Due to the diversity of VitroGel® products, a wide variety of cell types from different tissues can be tested.

Multiple studies have been made use of biofunctional hydrogel in different tissue and cell types. In nature, the microenvironment is complicated. Each single cell type can respond to different functional ligands such as RGD, Collagen, Laminin, and MMP. VitroGel hydrogel system is a powerful tool for scientists to study many cellular processes and behaviors in response to different extracellular matrix functional ligands. VitroGel hydrogel system has a unique shear-thinning and rapid recovery rheological property. Under the mechanical shearing force such as injection through a syringe, the hydrogel performs a gel-sol transition and becomes free-flowing status. However, once the shearing force ceased, the mechanical strength of the hydrogel can rapidly recover with a sol-gel transition and become a hydrogel status again. 

With this injectable property, VitroGel can be used for in vivo cells/drug delivery with great retention, bioprinting, droplet formation, and lab automation.


VitroGel® Dilution Solution is a ready-to-use solution use for mixing with the VitroGel system to adjust the hydrogel concentration for different hydrogel strength.

The solution is room temperature stable and neutral in pH, which maintains a good physiological condition for hydrogel formation. The VitroGel Dilution Solution can accelerate the hydrogel formation in combination with cell medium. The Dilution Solution can be used to prepare VitroGel thin gel coating plate or injectable hydrogel.


VitroGel comes in high concentration.  Get more uses from one vial.  One 10 mL vial can be used for 7 plates of 24-well plate if using dilution ratio at 1:3 which is the typical ratio for most cell types.  Overall, cost per well is more than 50% lower compared to other basement membrane matrix.
