PROTOCOL: CREATION OF BRANDED PANCREATIC ORGANOIDS FROM hiPSCs
Qkine highlighted a journal article of Darrigrand et al. from the King’s College London, about the protocol in creating branched pancreatic organoids from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) by optimizing organoid culture format and media using Qkine activin A, EGF, FGF-7 and FGF-10.
The pancreas has vital endocrine and exocrine functions that can be affected by life-threatening diseases such as diabetes and pancreatic cancer. While animal models have been useful for understanding pancreatic development and disease, they are limited by their low-throughput and physiological differences. Generating 3D in vitro models, organoids, that are physiologically relevant is important for investigating human pancreatic development and disease. It may also allow the partial replacement of animal models used to investigate diseases such as pancreatic cancer.
