POST-EVENT UPDATES
2025 HKUMed 30th Research Postgraduate Symposium
Decoding the Future of Medicine: A Photo Journey with LAB-A-PORTER at the 30th HKUMed Research Postgraduate Symposium (HKURPS 2025)
Early December along Pokfulam’s Sassoon Road always carries a distinct vibration of intellectual curiosity, but this year, the energy was palpable. They had reached a significant milestone: the 30th anniversary of the HKUMed Research Postgraduate Symposium (HKURPS).
For three decades, this event has been the crucible for Hong Kong’s emerging biomedical talent. The 2025 theme—‘Precise Code, Tailored Cure: Towards Predictive, Personalised & Programmable Medicine’—set an ambitious tone. It was a call to action, urging researchers to move beyond conventional approaches and embrace the intricate realities of personalized healthcare.
LAB-A-PORTER was proud to return to HKU Medical Campus, not just as exhibitors, but as active participants in this scientific dialogue. Over two dynamic days from December 3rd to 4th, our space transformed into a buzzing junction where abstract concepts met tangible solutions. We didn’t just see attendees; we saw partners in research looking for the right tools to unlock the next breakthrough in organoid models, immunology, and neuroscience.
From intense discussions over 4 areas of preclinical research tools to lighthearted moments with superhero mascots, here is a documentary-style visual summary of our experience at the historic 30th HKURPS.
The Gathering Storm of Ideas
The symposium environment is always a unique blend of high-stakes academic presentation and community building. Our team arrived ready to match that energy, setting the stage for two days of intense networking.

The Hub of Activity
In between every sessions concluded, the exhibition floor was flooded. The drive for “Precise Code, Tailored Cure” meant researchers were actively hunting for more reliable, physiologically relevant research tools. Our booth quickly became a crowded hub of inquiry.

Tailored Tools for Preclinical Research
The core of our presence was, of course, the science. We brought forward our key partners whose technologies directly address the challenges of precision medicine, from advanced 3D cell culture to in vivo studies.
Making a Splash in 3D Culture: Alexis the Whale, the beloved mascot from TheWell Bioscience, drew attention to serious tools. Featured prominently were solutions for robust 3D modeling, including the VitroGel Organoid system and the newly launched RocketCell NSC Xeno-Free Complete Growth Kit.
Optimizing Organoids: Precision medicine relies heavily on high-quality models. We showcased Qkine’s ultra-pure growth factors, essential for reproducible organoid research.
Aligning with the theme of personalized medicine, we highlighted AXOL Bioscience and their human iPSC-derived AxolCell products, crucial for better disease modeling.

Heroes of Immunology and Beyond
Research is a tough battle, and sometimes you need a superhero in your corner. We highlighted solutions for those fighting cancer and exploring the complexities of the nervous system.
One of The Gold Standards: Flyers displaying the extensive range of in vivo ready antibodies from Bio X Cell—critical tools for researchers in cancer, immunology, and neuroscience seeking reliable functional results.
Bio X Cell’s superhero scientist muppet kept watch over the booth, a fun reminder of the heroic effort put in by researchers every day.

Engaging the Community
A symposium is more than just data; it’s about the people behind the pipettes. We wanted to connect with the attendees on a personal level and celebrate their dedication.
The buzz wasn’t confined to our booth. The poster presentation corners were packed throughout the event, showcasing the depth and breadth of research being conducted at HKUMed.
Wear Your Science: Our latest ‘Pin the Passion’ campaign was a hit
Supporting Future Leaders: A proud moment as our General Manager presented an award to one of the oral presentation winners. Congratulations to all the presenters for their outstanding contributions to the 30th symposium.
Celebrating Excellence
The event concluded on a high note, recognizing the incredible work presented during the oral sessions. It was an honor to be part of celebrating the best and brightest.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the HKUMed organizing committee for hosting another spectacular event. To all the postgraduates who visited us: your passion is inspiring. We look forward to supporting your journey toward the “tailored cures” of tomorrow. See you next year!
