Alpaca nanoantibodies

A nanobody is a compact antibody fragment derived from the heavy-chain-only antibodies present in camelids like llamas and camels. Also known as VHH or single-domain antibodies, nanobodies consist of a single functional domain, making them the smallest naturally occurring antigen-binding units.

With a size of around 15 kDa, nanobodies penetrate tissues effectively and bind to hidden epitopes. Engineered for stability, they demonstrate resistance to harsh conditions, ensuring robust performance in diverse experimental settings. High solubility further adds to their reliability. Nanobodies exhibit remarkable specificity and affinity for their target antigens, enabling precise and sensitive detection.

Claudin Antibodies

Claudins are a family of proteins that are important components of tight junctions, which are specialized structures found in epithelial and endothelial cells that regulate the permeability of cellular barriers. Tight junctions are crucial for maintaining the integrity and function of various tissues and organs, such as the blood-brain barrier, kidney tubules, and digestive tract.

Claudins are transmembrane proteins that span the cell membrane and interact with other claudins on adjacent cells to form tight junctions. They play a key role in regulating the movement of ions and molecules across cellular barriers, which is critical for various physiological processes such as nutrient absorption, waste elimination, and immune surveillance.

There are at least 27 different claudin genes that have been identified in humans, and different tissues express different combinations of claudins to create barriers with specific permeability properties. Dysregulation of claudin expression or function has been implicated in various diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, and neurological disorders.

Cytokeratin Antibodies

Cytokeratins are keratin proteins found in the intracytoplasmic cytoskeleton of epithelial tissue. They are an essential component of intermediate filaments, which help cells resist mechanical stress. The expression of these cytokeratins within epithelial cells is specific primarily to particular organs or tissues.

The expression of cytokeratins varies with epithelial cell type, the extent of differentiation, and the development of the tissue. The cytokeratin patterns are usually maintained during the transformation of normal healthy cells into malignant tumor cells. This enables cytokeratins to be applied as tumor markers.
